Description

The main function of a data architect is to ensure that the data assets of an organization are supported by an architecture that supports the organization in achieving its strategic goal. A typical data architect is responsible for setting enterprise standards for databases, data integration, and the means to get to the data.

The ideal candidate must have in-depth experience with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, Data Warehouse Architecture and Design, Informatica and Oracle SQL, PL/SQL application development. This position will collaborate proactively with functional users and analysts to translate business and integration requirements into configurable component designs and solutions.


Education/Experience

o Associates degree in computer programming or relevant field required. Bachelor degree preferred
o 5-7 years experience required



Responsibility level

o Exercises independent judgment with direction from supervisor

o Oversee and manage development vendors and consultants engaged on assigned projects



Skills

o Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills (Required)
o Ability to work independently and manage one’s time (Required)
o Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide oversight and constructive performance feedback on team members (Required)
o Knowledge of logical data modeling and physical data modeling (Required)
o Knowledge of computer software, such as SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle, etc (Required)
o Strong data warehouse, ETL, and reporting experience and knowledge.
o OBIEE and data warehouse implementation experience from design through implementation
o Work and engage with global teams



Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

o Work as part of a data warehouse project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations
o Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project
o Oversee and manage consultant team deploys on project
o Validate data warehouse designs and test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications
o Modify existing databases and database management systems
