Data Modeler

Data Architect III (Data Modeler) - Foster City, CA - 8 Months+



Description

The main role of the contractor will be to create and document the Enterprise Data Model being developed by the Enterprise Data Architecture group. This model will reflect the key entities, relationships and attributes The task will also include creation of data models for use in Master Data management tools.



Education/Experience

• Bachelor degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required. MS or other related advanced degree highly preferred
• 5+ years data modeling experience required
• Experience working with large global multinationals.


Responsibility level

• Strong ability to multi-task, work independently and manage one’s time


Skills

• Strong Data modeler with experience in creating and maintaining Enterprise data models
• Outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership skills necessary to collaborate with IT and business partners across the enterprise
• Solid analytical skills; able to quickly digest data modeling related issue/problem and recommend an appropriate solution. Ability to suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
• Knowledge of/experience with
o Modeling tools (ERWIN is a must)
o Conceptual and logical data modeling
o Data Flow analysis
o Business process modeling
o Architecture Roadmap and Blueprints for data. Understanding of how portfolios of systems work together to create enterprise solutions
o Data Classification
o Policies, Procedures and Standards for EDM governance



Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop Enterprise Data Model. Create a notation framework for representing the elements of EDM including the entities, relationships and attributes.
o Define and evolve enterprise data best practices for representing all the components of EDM.
o Create artifacts defining the conventions and terms used
o Create data models using the developed framework
• Support the processes coming out of various working groups (subject domains).
o Help in creating the models defined at the working group meetings
o Integrate the output with the EDM.
• Support documentation of the EDM and its touch points with the Enterprise Master Data roadmap and Metadata repository.
